I don't have time to follow every single post. Why would you clean your FX5 once a month? Just curious.

Will you be doing your same frequent water changes with this new rhom, or plan on doing things differently this time?

Cuz the dude is OCD about the maintenance part of fish keeping

Not saying its a bad thing

This type of "OCD" maintenance could end up hurting the fish IMO. But maybe I am not fully understanding the situation. F1, what is the intent for your FX5 filter? What type of media are you stocking with? Mech or Bio?

1st off my fx5 has nothing to do with my rhom! I clean it once every 4-6weeks to avoid micro bubbles and clean impeller! I only use chem stars fluval cnodes and the mech sponges and I run an ac110 for polishing with loads of pads, does a great job!

Secondally, my past rhom died from eating a sponge I think, he loved the water and I maybe change 40% every 2 days now
Nitrates at 0-5ppm I do it to vac out the old food cuz I keep food always availible! My other guy more then tripled in size in 5 weeks. Not to mention I drip the new water 5gal/5 min matched to the exact .1° of tank temp

I wouldn't call it ocd, just a very active fishkeeper who wants the best for his pets. There are ppl on here who have horrid water, go preach to them!

Just slang man, as I mentioned, nothing wrong with it.

Hey, maybe you can build your own drip system some day? You'd just have to spot clean left over food and poo

I feel ya but smoke appatantly thinks he knows whats best for my pets! I guess after a month on mfk u know everything lol....If he would have just read the thread like normal ppl he wouldn't have even had to post, nor would I! No big deal

And yes baller I've been drafting up a eco drip. For water changes my hose hooks to my stand up shower which is 15-20' away, so I was gonna run a T valve and just pipe 1/2" hosing to the tank and let it drip out ithe window which is 1" from my 90gal, just gotta order a float valve!

And I love the look of my new sand! Not as much as the fish do tho!

F1 Vet, no need to get defensive buddy. My post was not intended to rustle your jimmies LOL.

I rarely post here because people like you get super defensive when more EXPERIENCED keepers try to help you.

No need to get defensive bro, why post on a public forum if you can't handle the feedback?

Anyways, let me know if you got my PM. I tried to respond to you twice, but not sure if it worked.

Dude and how do you conclude that your baby rhom died because it ate a sponge? LOL, that made me LOL hard. Did you cut him open and find a piece of sponge inside him??

Take a look at this vid from a fellow piranhakeepers member , this rhom bites of chunks of sponge, but spits it right back out. They know when they bite something unfamiliar and will likely spit it out.

Why is that funny!? Cuz 36 hours after I put the powerhead in he died not to mention the sponge was eaten and it was white like the talapia I feed him. I don't consider myself inexperienced but I also have a lot to learn. I'm still trying to get past his death bro so just be easy!

And yes got u mixed up my bad!
