Bought something called "Neon Dwarf Texas Cichlid". Whose fault are these things?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Found a clone online! This guy http://gregthecrazyfishguy.wordpress.com/2012/01/03/genetics-of-the-blood-parrot-cichlid/ spawned red devil with blood parrot and got

That looks practically identical. While I understand the variability of gene expression (especially in hybrids), I'm pretty astounded nonetheless to have potentially found the ID.

Really a neon Dwarf texas lmao. That sound like someone traded the petshop some texas x parrot hybrids and made up a name so they would take them. you can go through my threads to see similar fish with that mouth and body style. To give the fish more color change that gravel to something natural or colorful and a blue background most cichlids tend to blend in to their surroundings so black tank= black fish, stress bars ect... Under the right conditions it can look totally different.

Fun threads you've got! I like the bars and solid colors a lot. If he fades into an orange turd, he's trash. If he fades into something pretty, or keeps that color, he can stay in my 55g with my jurupari and angelfish.

No offense, but that thing is hideous! Don't have a clue what it could be, but how about we just call it Frankenfish....lol.

Cool, thanks Jesse. I've been staring hard at the tail and there are definite signs of scarring. The eyespot is broken in half, there is a little meat missing too. Either way, it's the darn ugliest fish I've ever had, even uglier than my raphael cats!

In my 55g now.
