Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to try the blood worms now. The worst part of all this not eating the food is that I have to disturb them again to remove it!
bloodworms should be fine for juvenile. I won't advise against krill due to the hard shell and the massive odour it produce.
Beware though, Once they get large enough to feed on pellets such as hikari sinking pellets, they would never touch bloodworms again (or at least mine don't). They are just too lazy to swim up to grab bloodworm when food just sinks down and serve to them.
A friend of mine cultures a bunch of different live foods for his baby fish. I will have to see if he has anything that's big enough for these guys to enjoy them. At least to vary their diet.
I'm trying to think of other things to feed them, but really I'm just not sure. Can I cut up pieces of fish and try that? They'd sure have to be small pieces of fish!
Ernie (the smaller of the two) ate almost all of the blood worms I put in there very quickly. Bert still hasn't eaten, he just stays perched on his piece of driftwood. They both swim around a little bit, so I'm not worried yet.

tilapia, market shrimp, beef heart - blood worms are good too, so no problems there if that's what ur feeding em that's been my sens staple for a while
I just thought about it. They also like insects, and I'm sure I could cut up some worms for them to eat as well. Been meaning to buy some night crawlers for my moray eel, and these guys may benefit as well.
I wish they had phoenix worms around here, but haven't been able to find them ANYWHERE! Silk worms, wax worms, will those sorts of things work? What about brine shrimp w/spirulina? I also have frozen daphnia, if you think they may eat that?
Mine have always liked to hang out in plants up high when they are young. Might try some shirmp but once the start to eat they will eat anything an every thing. Mine would naw on a large algae waffer until he can swallow it. They are pretty savage. I would not worry bout them eating

this as well it totally just passed my mind, cut up worms are another great source of protein for them. however i would avoid any kind of wax-worm or meal-worm that has a protective shell as that can be harder for them to digest and pass, and also proposes a choking risk. Brine shrimp can work as well, no idea about daphnia though as i've never tried it
as they get bigger i know a lot of people like to get them on pellets, particularly hikari sinking carnivore or massivore delight broken up in to pieces
I think you just got one "Genius Point" from me! You can also use them to slice tomatoes (that's why my friend said I needed one...can you imagine her shock when she eats a tomato sandwich and then sees me using it to cut up a night crawler!?!?)
Wax worms are soft, and gooey, that's why I thought of those.
UPDATE:: Both babies have eaten. Bert just didn't realize he had to go DOWN to the floor to find food. I found this out because I took my handy-dandy turkey baster, and squirted some in front of his face. He "n0m n0m" a couple, then went to the bottom for more.
How much/often do you feed yours? I gave them about half a block of blood worms twice yesterday. I don't want to foul my water, but I also want them to grow big and strong! They have a serious filter though, from a tank with a very big goldfish, so I'm sure there's plenty of BB to account for it.
