Haha seeing your dedication to your senegal made me fall in love again with mine. I never really pay much attention to it ever since I added my delhezi and ornate. Felt bad about neglecting it.
I just realised how much it has grown! From a 3" until a 5". Im a bad parent
It is really a savage eater. Even pushing and chasing the 9" ornate away to get to the pellets.
To think I named it "Runt" as it was the smallest of all my bichirs
I'm so glad I triggered you to rediscover just how awesome your senegal is. Yeah, they are "borinig" when it comes to colors, but that face is just TOO CUTE! They are definitely little pigs, but won't touch the pellets. I'm okay with that, since I have a pretty ready supply of other food stuffs, and even throw in a little bit of homemade gel food. They bite it, chew it, and spit it out, but I'm sure at least some of the vitamins and probiotics I put in there stay in there digestive track!
Thank you for sharing this picture, it's nice to see what my little babies have the potential to become. How long have you had Runt? (P.S. I have a cory fry that I've named Runt too, lol. But he/she really was the runt out of that clutch, lol.)
juxtaroberto,
Thank you for the heads up on them becoming obese, I'll definitely monitor their weight as they get older. When I first get goldfish babies, they eat 5-6 times per day! I would imagine these two haven't had the greatest start in life, so they have some catching up to do. Stress, fasting, bad water can all stunt/retard their growth, and the "baby stage" is one of the most important!
What can I say...I love my polys. They lay with eachother in the bottom of the tank, it's so adorable, I'm definitely glad I bought two instead of just one. Do you think they (senegals particularly) are more community fish when babies, and become more aggressive as they age, or are they always this easy going?
