Im going to do a little experiment. Not a legit scientific experiment, but you know what im sayin. Im bout to adopt a 2" serra from a friend. As of right now, its not ID'd but its pretty much between an elong or an emaciated rhom. My friend thinks it might have had internal parasites as it was eating very well but not gaining weight. He treated him a week or so ago. Either way, he's got a big ass head and thats my goal for him. I want to keep that 'wild' shape as much as possible.

My experiment will be simple: His diet will be all live food. So far im thinking his staple will be entire convict fry spawns as the parents push them out. Small earthworms (trout worms) every two weeks or so as a little treat, live characins (obviously quarantined and treated for parasites and disease) for him to fin nip and maybe even crickets or other small insects. The general plan for his diet is to keep him hungry and hunting.
He'll be housed in a planted 40b being dosed for EI, so he'll be getting 50% water changes a week.
What are your guy's predictions and any tips/ideas? Im open for constructive input.
