Bout to try something

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Basically this sounds like the diet of anyone that buys a rhom and doesn't know much about them and just drops live in... Their growth is very tricky and finicky at that size, id Atleast feed it juvy pellets till it hits 1-2". But then again this isn't my experiment, I wouldn't ever want my rhom to be the fat kid playing on the CPU all day with a box of twinkies and a 12 pack of code red... Lol

Sorry it died, that stinks, those out of tank shots must have tipped his stress over the edge....who knows. Try it with a piarya!

Nah, those pics were weeks old. How does breeding your own feeders sound like a newb thing to do? Obviously the average hobbyist is missing something because 90% of home grown fish look doofy. Maybe the acerage hobbyist is over thinking. I got awesome growth (above average) from my baby serras by having them on a fin nip diet.

I currently have a piraya, and to be completely honest, i dont see the appeal of solo pygos. They just dont seem to have the personality that serras do. Ime

Either way, this experiment is off for now. I'll be tearing down the 40b, 29, and 20 gallon tanks i was using for this experiment. The parent convicts are already inside Bubba and my cariba shoal. I'll be giving a few friends the baby convicts, or i'll trade them to the lfs for credit. Idk. Idc. Maybe this is a good opportunity to set my 40b up as a reef and use the 29 as a sump.

Besides breeding your own (cuz that and quarin are the only safe way)

its what imo someone not knowing about piranhas and or nutrition would do, just buy goldfish every week at their lfs and drop them in. Ive always wanted to get pacu fry or tiny juvies so they can nip something they normally would in the wild but way to much work. You have good ideas man I'm not trying to take away from that at all, its just hard read anyone's words and perceive it the exact way someone intended!

Yea your piayra is awesome! Harelyk started with I think 5 and they grew out to be so awesome, to bad he had some trouble with HITH, that would be devastating, especially on a drip! Maybe get a few similar sized rbp and let the piarya be the BOSS!
