Bout to try something

It would be nice to have that under your belt, Mike. I think its definitely worth an attempt. I pretty sure your live feeders will be free from parasites and silly diseases. Good luck bro, keep us update!

No, my main goal is shape and maintaining the larger head/jaw size.

I just don't get how any diet can affect the shape of head....ok wait so keeping him smaller will keep the head shape? the pic you showed is a 16-18" fatty rhom. Not a emancipated rhom by any means..

Youre not tracking what im putting out there man. I have an idea, that the constant, high protein and nutrient diet that pellets and fillets give, in conjunction with not having to bite and rip and fight for a meal, will make the body grow faster than the head. The jaw muscle and surrounding structures wont develop. Kinda like a kid that eats microwave burritos and plays xbox all his life. I wanna raise a kid that works on a farm and only eats fresh caught fish and home raised beef. Nahm Sayin?

And if you cant see the difference between a tank raised and a fresh caught wild import, then youre not going to understand what im aiming for here.

Maybe try feeding him live crawdads or ghost shrimp.....but what kind feeder fish you gonna use?

Thats not a bad idea MN. A berried Craydad/lobster might be on my list of things to get... Atleast see if he'll eat the small ones. If not i could resetup my old shrimp tank and breed rcs again. Thanks for the idea!

I'm breeding convicts for him now. When he gets big enough i might switch to breeding a larger/faster growing cichlid like oscars or jack dempseys. Otherwise i'll be using black skirt tetras, silver dollars, neon tetras for him to fin nip and chew on.
