I caught about 17 of these Bad *** specimens today, I can tell you from experience that in some ecosystems they are apex predators and probably would not do well with too many tank mates at all.... They are a lot of fun to catch though, the smallest one we caught today was around 3.5 lbs, and the largest was around 14...

A bowfin gets around the same size as a LMB, so i believe you can fit it as a adult maybe in a 180 gallon. Id say 240 just to be safe. And if you start look as bichirs, as easy to find one is the senegal bichir, only gets 12 inches max, and you can keep around 3 in a 55 gallon tank.
