Here is a shot of my welded steel stand that has my 150g on it. it is made with 1.5 inch steel tubing from the LFS. you could park a car on it I think..
I also used a jigsaw for the plywood and a handsaw for the 2 x 4's. The only power tool I used was an electric drill (lots and lots of wood screws and glue). Take your time and I'm sure it will turn out great. If I can do it, anybody can.
And nice tank and metal stand, too. You can always wrap a metal stand in wood and be assured that it will always be strong enough. My 320g is on a metal stand using 3" square tubular steel legs. I'm sure it could hold 2 cars.
I have my 55g on the the exact same style stand as the OP, should I worry? It was bought new and I have made sure to not let it get wet for any extended periods of time. Also, there are no signs of any warping/bowing/etc.
I'm thinking that the bigger tanks are a bit more risky to keep on PB stands.
P.S. 12V +1 on the stand, tank & fish, clean & nice!

You shouldn't have anything to worry about unless you notice any bowing of shifting. I would probably go ahead and ad some bracing to it just to be safe...but thats just me.

Because I'm ocd I did go out and buy a solid pine stand but I can't decide if it's worth the hassle of having to move the tank onto it right now. I'll keep on eye on the stand and if anything happens I at least have the other stand ready. I'm thinking I'll do it when I move in the next year or so.

It should be fine, I wouldn't worry about changing stands until you move. Your stand is same type stand that many if not most people have....you don't here about tanks busting very often, so your odds are pretty good
just be careful. when I worked through school at the LFS I had the pleasure of having to take down more than one store display seteup (125 and 90) that were on particle board stands that were literally going to collapse if nothing was done.
don't let yours get to that state. change it out for your pine stand well before.

will do, I'm uber careful with it and inspect it constantly for any signs of problem. If I had the manpower to move the tank now I would but it's just me and a friend so we have to wait for more people to be free to help.
When moving the tank over, how dangerous would it be to keep like a 50lb rock stack in the tank with maybe 3/4 of water & carry from both ends? Could the bottom fall out (I do have eggcrate under my sand)?
