drain and empty the tank completely.

leaving weight in it can put stresses on the glass and seals

and besides, the empty weight of a 125 is around 175 pounds.

you don't want it any heavier than that :)

sorry to continue my thread hijack :)

Tnx for the advice, my tank is actually 55g & I def don't want to drain and empty it fully (put a ton of work in the rock stack, finally got it to my liking). It's established and has about 70lbs of rock & full stock of fish. My friend thought we could drain it halfway and take out 75% of the rock and slide/jimmy it to the new stand. Like I mentioned before though, I will just wait until I move in about 5-6 months. I'm sure I'll be better off taking my chances on the PB current stand, then having a real disaster trying to move it half full.

I won't even move a 10g with 10% of the water left. Water is just way to heavy.

I now have my frame done but need to get some vanier and plywood.

I don't see how you can sleep at night knowing that your 125 is held by pboard with little to no support. When your building the new stand, do a step by step tutorial for individuals who would like to build one in the future. keep us updated!
