I'd have to agree. There are lots of directions one could go with the hobby. For me personally, looks come first. Don't show me a wild fish that doesn't look as good or better than its f? counterpart cause I'm not buyin' it. And Kareef, collecting is a dream of mine as well. I wouldn't care whether I was boxing the fish up for import or releasing them back into the wild after I got a couple of nice photos of them. It would definitely be an experience to remember either way and the fam would dig it too I'm sure.

Well, let's just all cool down and agree to disagree on some things. I should not have gotten sucked into this and should not have posted a few things but caribemob post really ticked me off. I shoud have just let it go, I have only contributed to more of a derail. Somethings just get to me.

Here's kinda what I mean. Bad, are we OK going w/ this? My 210's I consider "BIG." 260, "REALLY BIG," or 360 REALLY REALLY BIG. 400+, HUMONGOUS. 2000, ASTRONOMICAL!

Today the count is actually 55 real fish 2 plecos and 20 con fry. Your about right, But I think 125, 150, 180 are BIG tanks, relatively easy to get around here too. I have not yet seen a tank in a residential setting as large as mine around here. A couple people I know have tanks in the 100-200 range. I am sure there must be other people with monster tanks in Maine, I just dont know any.

We (or at least I) are not in a contest to see who has the most or best fish(sadly many people on here seem to be in a contest). That kind of crap doesn't mean anything to me.

For the Badoscar. I'm sorry the ick looks worse. That is pretty common for ick to peak before it gets better. I have treated ick with full doses of several different meds (mostly formalin based) on tanks that had wild pleco's with no issues. The last time the tank had a L-200, L-128, and L191 and the meds did not bother them. They are all pretty tough for wild pleco's though. What pleco's do you have in the tank?

That's what I read about the ich so I was not expecting an imediate improvement. Good to know you have treated with full doses and plecos, I plan to add another dose tonight. I have no idea what kind of plecos I have, maybe I can get a pic but they hide most all the time so it's unlikely.

Think I'd agree, thinking anything 100+ gallon pretty much counts as "BIG," but in many European countries I'm not sure they'd always be so inclined. Good news is you've got great fish and BIG and REALLY BIG LoL! Great combo. Looking forward to "COLOSSAL." To me, even 260 is pretty PHENOMENAL. I don't think that will ever change...are you trying to make mine seem small? Suddenly I'm feeling "diminutive." Sure hope it doesn't last... Note to self: "Tank envy" should be avoided at all costs IMO LoL!

I think all plecos are good with ick meds: formalin, malachite blue, etc. Please post pics when they stabilize. Maybe in a brand new thread. It'd be cool if you could document their development over the next couple months, years, etc.

I agree. A growth thread is a must on these guys. I will be very interested to see how the grow and which ones grow the best and get along the best.

BadOscar, you are getting good advice from jgentry. Make sure to keep treating for a couple of weeks. The life cycle of ich has to be allowed to play out. Meds will eradicated existing fully developed parasites, but other stages of the life cycle are resistance. A good rule of thumb is to treat for two weeks after visible signs have disappeared.

, Imho agree with what has been said by mojarraman, regarding your fish obtained through DCT, all of my Argentea stock was from DCT & Central States Cichlids. Very happy with them and once again good luck with you fish, let nature runs its course with the Ick and the treatments and you should be ok.
