Here is my Vaillanti, it's probably close to 12". It is an exceptionally slow growing catfish. I've had it for close to 2 years and in that time it's grown maybe 1". My buddy who gave it to me had it for a couple years and said he got it around 7-8".
Hmmmm...... That is very contrary to everything I have read, but on the other hand my giraffe hasn't passed 12" in nearly 4 years.
Thats no vaillanti, i got one too, labeled as vaillanti, but Lundberg IDs this as Duopalatinus peruanus, no wonder it grows slowly... Real Vaillantis grows quickly...

IMHO, it looks like vaillantii. Moreover, Duopalatinus peruanus max SL is 8". I just got one from Wes last week at 7". If it grows that slow, that'd surprise me but will see.

Thanks! Posted a comment about my Fila's growth in that thread... And about the Vaillanti, as far as i know, their head shape looks lika that of B.rousseauxxi, but has a higher body, as my importer once had vaillantis a year ago and they look very different from that 'vaillanti'... I could be wrong tho...
