Brackish Water Questions

So do you have BBGs in with your DG? I know of dogs who are nearly blind, attacking any shadow that goes near them.

Yes, I have BBG's with my ten inch long violet goby. I bought five of them, and I still have all five, plus the 20 or so that I am raising after they spawned (I've posted a thread about that in case you want to know more). The violet goby has never shown any aggression towards the bumblebees. While he was resting one time I even saw one sitting on him. He didn't eat their eggs, nor did he attack the male who was so loyally protecting them. Even though he's aggressive towards me, the five bumblebees and the many guppies (including fry) are unharmed.

Well I dont think that when I set up, that I am gonna go crazy and buy ALL the fish right away and throw them in the tank

Im gonna take my time and make sure this works out well. I'll probably buy whatever I see on sale first. If I find Bumblebee Gobies I'll get them first, if not then I'll get 2 F8's, if not I'll buy 2 Knight Gobies.

But ultimately, Im not filling up that tank all at ones  Each fish is kind of expensive...

No one said you should do that--just throwing out some ideas. You should fishless cycle the tank at the SG they are at in the shop (usually FW) & then after purchasing some fish, raise the SG to around 1.005 (.001-.002/week) until you have your tank stocked. At the lower SG, it'll be easier to to drip-acclimate any newcomers.

So monday morning hell will break lose in my room. I got ship out the remaining FW fish I have in the 75 G. After that I unplug the Eheim, drain all that nasty water out (havent done a water change in 3 weeks:() and put in some new water and add some water conditioner. After that I have to maintenance my Eheim(I havent rinsed out the media yet). Im gonna rinse out the media in tank water.:)

After that put back the Eheim and let it run.... Throw in some TLC (BB) and let it run.

Then tuesday morning Im gonna head out to the LFS to buy my marine salt and hydrometer. Is there any specific brand of marine salt that is good? Or Hydrometer brand that is good?

I use Instant Ocean sea salt and a hydrometer from the same brand. Be careful though, if you don't rinse the hydrometer in freshwater like it says, it'll collect salt and give you a higher reading than it should. Every once in awhile it might be good to check what it reads when you put it in freshwater. Mine reads about .002 more than it should, and I have to take that into consideration when I'm doing water changes.
Also, make sure the container that the salt is in is closed whenever you're not using it. If left exposed to the air and water it becomes hard and when you add it there are still small particles of it that are hard to get rid of.

I suggest crushed coral or aragonite sand for substrate, to buffer the pH around a steady 8.

Pufferpunk, I read your whole article on fishless cycle. Im just wondering though......Where do I get ammonia to put in my tank? Rite Aid? , CVS? Supermarket? Is there a specidif product with a name that has just ammonia?

I mean where do I get this?
