in japan, the Japanese honey bees has learned how to deal with the hornets to a certain degree. in places where they are introduced, or invade, the honey bee colonies (that have never lived around the hornets and never learned how to defend against them) are doomed. they have zero defense
the giant hornets have been seen here in the states as well

I had a yellow jacket colony in my backyard a couple of years ago. they attacked my landscape guy and my nephew was a victim one time. they died off one winter. they are good pest control but they are nasty little guys man. glad they are gone since I have little kids
