Breeding and maintaining mealworms

do they smell bad?
 
Oh no, not at all. They smell like their substrate(Oats), and Oats don't really have a smell so nope. Even the dried up banana peels and potatoes don't have a smell.

You should try it.
 
122 pupa's now and 10 beetles.

I'm going to buy a few of these(3-5) to keep them in. I can stack these and use the space I have more efficiently with these.

I will keep 25 beetles in each drawer.

Oh ya duhh. Sorry about that MFKers. Thanks for reminding me, I'll get them today or tommorow. They hide alot right now in the oats. I'll get some though.

Yes I painted one green and tape out the words MFK, lol. Looks like crap but it'll do.

Here's a black one, they turn black after a few days and their shells harden.

I have 132 pupa's now! and 19 beetles.
 
Forgot to say some info. I put the pupa's in the little green drawer system. And the big system has 2 drawers with mealworms and 1 drawer with beetles.

I might try it I already havethe drawers at my house, feed them to my arowanas

When they are in cold weather do they(all stages) die ? Or just go into a hybernating stage?
