Are you KIDDING? Underwater World only has a bunch of 7" or so Bala Sharks. Bala Sharss are so incredibly common near me that even Pets Paradise will always have a tank stocked with them. These were one of my very first fish.~THEO~;1468126; said:Wow, thats crazy. I have never seen a bala shark anywhere other then at Underwater World, Sunshine Coast, and that was just for display. I would have thought if they were available in NZ, I would be able to get one in OZ.

i highly disagreeMystix212;1466206; said:Feeding Bala Sharks to other fish would be like breeding puppies for fur coats.
Bala Sharks attain maturity at 9-11" long and they are immaterial. As onion stated, they spawn at very high speeds and a 10ft stretch of tank space probably wouldnt even be suitable. A 10ft circular pool on the other hand would be better.
You would also need spawning hormones, or artificialy fertilizing them the same way fish farms do. I have never heard of it being done in home aquaria.
balas dont get barley any color til theyre about 3 or 3.5 inchesMystix212;1470760; said:Not much of an eye grabber too. Most pet shops sell them at 2.5" when underfeeding and the drained colours has got to them. The prices arent too bad considering thier speed, size and rarity.
Why is this? Do you see puppies as a fur coat item or do you think spawns of Bala Sharks are a good feeder source?dzb912;1474651; said:i highly disagree
