Why is this? Do you see puppies as a fur coat item or do you think spawns of Bala Sharks are a good feeder source?
im sure just as many people like comet feeders just as much as bala sharks
ive never seen anyone so sensitive about fish in my life
bala sharks are one of my favorite fish also
but that dosent mean they can be used as feeders
we do the same thing for convicts and comet feeders
and in europe snakeheads....
whats the difference in bala sharks

The difference is the practicality of feeding them to other fish.

It's not like Convicts who are easy to breed and spawn like crazy.

I think you completely missed the analogy. The tank size you would need alone makes them impractical to breed as a feeder source.

Often sold as silver sharks here in Australia, go for a massive $4.90 at my mates lfs.
That is pretty cheap if they are being sold at 1.5" or so.

A good marketing idea with Bala's in Australia is to buy 6 at 2" for $8 each, and grow them out till they are 8" 9-12 months later and sell them for $50 a peice. It can and does work, if the demand is high enough.

Would you like to make a bet? Everything in Australia has 1000% markups so you wouldnt be suprised to find a 7" Bala Shark selling for $50.
I think that is a bit pricey myself but we see natives sell for a 1/4 the price overseas.
