breeding bala sharks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i would love to see picks of the eggs, free swimming and picks of the growing stages and all.... for actual proof of the balas breeding in your tank.As if they did i think that would pretty much make like some fish history or something

my LFS currently has $50 bala sharks. They are around the 7" mark. They also have electric yellows for $50 each at around 4".

No they didnt.

Ouch, while it may be hard to fathom; I think we shouldn't make accusations until we see proof (or as many liers do, wait until they keep making crazy accusations until it is easy to see).

Feeding Bala Sharks to other fish would be like breeding puppies for fur coats.

. I don't know why this made me laugh so much, probably just the thought of a puppy coat... Hey, I could dig it.

I could see how if you were just breeding them for feeders, then it would be impractical. But on a home basis, isn't breeding 90% of the fish we own impractical? (That is time and money spent vs. output received). I have many breeding projects that I sink way too much money into, just for the sheer enjoyment. I think he meant he was going along this route, and the babies for feeders is just a perk.

I'm not gonna knock your idea, but I agree; it won't be an easy thing to do.

If someone could breed balas there would be well known documentation on them. Considering most balas dont even reach maturity in the keepers tanks. Makes me want to buy a big blow up pool throw 30 sharks in and say have fun

balas here are for abt $4,the prices keep changing.
breeding balas is really like you have started ur feeder factory.

it's crazy how big of a price difference there is. Where I live you can pick up a 6" for 19.99 (and sometimes you can find cheaper).

Here we sell them for $3.99 from 1inch-4inch. A lot of customers buy them that size, grow them up to 7-8'' then bring them back to us on donation. I think we sell them for $20-30 depending on the customer. I've actually got big horse troughs I use as ponds, I think the feed stores would have one that was 20' across...You guys might have sparked my next stupid little project!
