  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
We are talking about a 30 gallon fish tank dude. unless you have the recources to accommodate it ie larger tank why put the fish in a tank that isnt suitable?

Which is is a perfectly acceptable size tank for a trio of 4-6" catfish. I know plenty of breeders who'll breed large schools of Cyprinids and Corys in 5.5 or 10 gallon tanks and the fish are all fully grown and extremely healthy.

I never claimed to keep them in a 30 gallon for the entirety of their life. I'm only going to keep them in there until they spawn, which should occur within a week or two, then the 30 will be used for fry and the parents will wind up in a large outdoor pond.

Got a 110 pond coming in within the next month or two, though I'm conflicted between using it for bullheads and larger sunfish or killies, mudminnows, and Enneacanthus. If that pond doesn't work I've also got a tank between 125-480 gallons coming up soon as well. And if im already full on stock with both of those options, my good friend has a multi thousand gallon pond in and he's been very interested in Ictalurids as of late, so I'm sure he'd love them.

Ik just confused because on other threads you say you dont have room for another tank and cant find one. But hey its your fishan good luck with the project. I just try and keep fish in tanks that can house them for life or a really long time. Again good luck with your project

My current Fishroom is the one where I don't have much room left, it's also on the first floor of my house which is why I don't dare put anything over 150 gallons of total water in one room. I'm building my new Fishroom now which is approximately 14'x6' so I'll be able to hold larger tanks in it.

4" bullheads breeding ? This just keeps getting better and better……….. not, as Borat would say.

You'd be surprised. The ones at my local lake average out adult size at 6-7" and I've seen them nesting at 3.5-3.75" the last few years.

Tou asked the question ....lol

You dont have the room now though. Dont they get close to 12 inches if not more
