Breeding fish for money is a failing enterprise, but there are some papers out there on farming tropicals in a small setting. Angels are probably your best bet as they are very well documented. Given your aquarium size constraints, I recommend you get some african cichlids and breed those. Try yellow labs or saulosi. Both are popular and colorful and easy to breed. I have a colony of wild caught saulosi, I am bout to pull about 50-60 fry and they sell for about $1 to $2 wholesale. But seriously you are not gonna make more than couple hundred bucks a year under the good circumstances. Lots of non-obvious costs to raising fish.

I agree...breeding fish for cash is not a great idea. Just do it for fun.

If you know what you're doing and have a business sense it can be done. Most people who try are just enthusiasts though and that's why it generally fails. I'm making $100 / week off fish and fish food and Im just doing it as a side project for pocket change while I finish my degree. $100/ week isnt much but if I were to get more serious about it and had the space I could no doubt turn it into 1000 / week or more. That is actually one of my aims for this coming year :) I'll let you know how it goes!

did you ever think about breeding bettas? they are easy to care for, cheap to keep, easy to breed, dont take up to much space and you could probably get 1 to 2 dollars each from your lfs. guppies also do very well because of the quantity they breed.
