breeding in the small tank (3ft x 2fh x 2ft)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Possible but not ethicly right imo. Every body looks physicly healthy but i wouldnt say the same for emotionaly.

It isn't just keeping.
It means perpect condition that the adult motoros give to birth 5pup 3days ago.
Small motoros were born in the tnak.
And the pair has gave to birth 3,6month ago in the tank, total 3 litters.
If parent motoro be stressed, it's impoosible.

i don't like this style !!! let me gues.. it's a asian tank ?

as i know, normally asia country peoples they only have limited space to keep Aquarium. All city at Japan, hong kong.... so :(

Fish dont have emotional needs. They need food, sex, and good water (come to think of it, I aint too different then a fish!). This guy is giving them all of that. Probably better then any of you who think otherwise can do!

I wouldn't mind putting a female in a tank that size to deliver some pups, but there would be no way i would keep/breed my rays in a tank that small..

Interesting...no need for space then?

Does anybody here think that rays or fish might have psychological needs? If given more room and space, dont you think the said animal might be happier? more comfortable? Example being, yes the rays did breed but if they had more room (hence even better water and other needs being met) they might have had an even larger litter.

Just a thought.

The point of this thread is enough space or not.
Frankly speaking, nobody know the pair get satisfaction or not.
I wanna ask the rays about their heart. I'm sorry I can't do it.
I have guessed probably~their pups is clear evidence that they're comfortable.

And legend of discus breeding...Dr.Jack Wattley had used very small bare tank.
He made discus breed in about 1.5ft cube tank or 2ft x 1.5ft x 1.5ft tank.
Adult discus size is 6~7inch.
But although his tank is small, Nobody take the side opposite him moreover his breeding technique is regarded discus breeding's bible.

Someone can keep his ray in small tank. Other people can do in lager tank.
It is just one's breeding technique differnt. And small tank breeding isn't cruelty to animal. My friend love and try him hardest for his rays like you, too.

you are using a tank that is slightly smaller as an example for discus breeding.... discus are alot smaller then rays, and i have to agree with everyone and say that despite the act of breeding... i highly doubt they are as emotionally happy. Its like taking two people and saying they have to live thier entire life in one room they cant leave... all they get is food... lets say they do have sex ..... only thing they have to do to entertain themselves of course they are still going to have a baby... is it right that they have to stay in that room thier entire life.... no...

Fish ARE NOT PEOPLE! The have biological needs, not emotional needs!

To Gr8, I dont think you can put just any fish in a bare tank like that and them be "happy." Some fish NEED places to hide as their instincts dictate to what type of surroundings they should be in.

Rays are large predatory fish that, as adults, have little to fear. They dont need a rock to get under or floating grass to hide in. THAT is why, IN MY OPINION, if an animal like a fish is given what it needs to thrive, it doesnt need any thing else for its "emotional" well being. For example look at snake breeders who keep their herps in "rack" systems. Oh yeah, snakes are a bit more advanced then fish too! ;)

Its been said before but I will say it again. If these rays were in even a 600gallon tank, its just a very very minute fraction of the water it would be able to roam in the wild. So, if indeed, these fish need a larger tank to "feel" happy whats to say that 600gallon is big enough? Afterall its just a miniscule amount of space compared to its wild brothers.
