Thanks for the info I have some time to wait now. Are you going to try and get your fry pellet trained rather than needing a supply of frozen or live food. Our little 5 inchers seem to be on pellets. Our large male love peacocks he helped get rid of a bunch of hybrids.
I noticed with himthat he will get real fat then grow longer and slim down.

Pellet trained is a goal. Right now though, survival is key. Do not know if moving them to this new setup will change their behavior.

Keep you posted.

Nice job on these guys. I had a couple hundred fry when my P. senegalus spawned last year, and only ended up with two surviving, even after I seperated them out, (the bigger fry liked to snack on the smaller ones). The two that survived were ones I had hung in a tank in breeding nets, with lots of hornwort to crawl through, so hopefully your breeding tanks work for you.

Thanks for the advice. Would be nice to have a couple hundred fry, but not sure how to keep that many without resorting to a whole lot of small beta containers.

Update: I lost the largest fry (3.3cm). I think I may have injured it when I transferred the fry to the breeder tanks. I am down to four fry now. Smallest is 2.2cm. Largest is 3.1cm. Still feeding Daphnia and all appear to be eating. I am introducing ground up pellets (Hikari - Massivore). The granules are about 1mm. Will see if any take it.

How do your ornates act when spawning and what is the spawnig act look like if you have been able to observe it. We have 3 good size endi's and once in a while 2 of them kind of snuggle up side by side and nuzzle each other are they spwning?
