I brought home my bamboo shark yesterday afternoon. He's currently in a 30 gallon. My 150 gallon will be ready this week which will be his new home. Once he out grows that he will be housed in a 600 gallon. I was going to bring home a yellow spotted stingray but held off for now. I haven't seen him yet, hopefully he will soon. You can see small pieces of scallop I put in there this morning.

When I picked him up his belly was perfectly white. I just saw him swimming around a little and it's pretty red. I have pool filter sand in the 30 gallon tank. I figured it was good for rays, so why not a shark?

nice shark! iv always wanted one

Not sure if it was because I took the sand out or not, but he's been much more active. His stomach is white again. Still haven't seen him eat though. I actually put in some frozen blood worms and then thats when he started swimming around a lot more, not sure if that has more to do with him being more active or not.

Generally, the only sand to use with rays and benthic sharks is fine live sand - anything course will really irritate their bellies.
