Can't rue out hybrids either.

My BTS looks like that and he's an Irian Jaya x Northern, without the clean anterior legs.

My GF and I got a baby BTS in Janurary. It hasn't had a trickle of UVB lighting on it since we've had it. The little bugger is currently over double the size it was when we acquired it and as you can see, has beautiful coloration....its probably one of the prettiest BTS I've ever seen. And all without UV.

man it looks really cool ,is it as friendly as it looks.Would you see that being more like a actual pet over the ackies or do you not really know,or care, lol, lol.I just don't want to regret anything. If that was a real baby when you got it then they grow fast.

Never had an ackie, but I would imagine it being a little more active and explorative than a slow, placid BTS. Its like comparing cornsnakes and ball pythons; both are pretty docile animals, but one is more laidback than the other. You could probably watch a couple hours of TV with a BTS content sitting in your lap. You would probably have to make an effort to keep your eye on the ackie.

And yes, BTS do grow like weeds. But remember they're live-bearers and are pretty decent-sized when they're born to begin with.

yours is very good looking and Ive been looking alot.Usually they are around 150 to 250 for one that nice.Care to tell the price and seller?

If you think it's likely Irian Jaya than that's what kind I'll look into. Great looking skink.

Jason are you cool with buying one online or would you rather pick it up in person? I ask because you can probably find one to order but local yeah might be tougher.

As for the monitors, I've never kept ackies but of the monitors I have kept the only one who would willingly stay with me for any time was my big savannah. And even then he would generally go do his own thing when out. A lot of people love to throw around the "dog tame" label but I'd call my monitors "cat tame" in the aloof-leave-me-alone Siamese cat sense. Not aggressive, not fearful, just wanting to be left alone.

Umm...you're gonna hate me, but we actually got that one for free (sorta). Here's the story:

This one breeder/dealer comes down and does a little herp expo a few times a year at our LPS. Because I'm one of the few people there that actually know what they're doin around herps, he likes me to work the booth for him, and he occasionally pays me in snakes. Not a bad deal really.

So last year in Oct, this guy buys an adult female BTS from him. In the Jan show, he comes back with the female, and 3 babies wanting to trade them all for something new. The babies were the last of 9 that female had birthed since Oct! So after my GF expressed interest in one, the guy said I could just have one of the baby BTS for free since I worked with him all weekend.

Thanks for the link, been checking out the BTS.net site.

yeah those are both in my favs.Bookmarks.I want a baby or juvi though ,the thing with bts.net is you cant see them first and they are over 200 bucks closer to 3 I think.Thats why I thought well hell I may look at ackies too but then again I may love a 100 dollar baby bts.Well I could also wait for the june san diego herp show.I just keep seeing some good deals on ackies and wondered if Im passing up something good but deals are always floating around.I guess I got all the places to buy from covered since I keep seeing the same ones.Sounds like both are good animals, its not going to wander the house, just want it to be cool to take him out and interact alot.Cat tame is ok sometimes,I dont need him to go fetch or anything, lol.
