Build Avice Please!

Started on the stand today. Comments please..........Im going for a perfect furniture finish. Im going to stain it black / mahogany to match my existing furniture.
Does no body have any idea what glass I should be using on this or am I wasting my time on this forum? over 200 views and no comments? WTF!
After hours of work sanding and filling the stand is almost ready, should be done by tomorrow afternnoon and I can start on the tank on Saturday.
Im not going to roll the dice with ruberised paints here in South Africa, There is no one I know of who has tested any of our local products so im just going to fiberglass it.
Im also toying with changing the design of the tank a little. Im Considering removing one of the corner uprights that would be in the middle of the two glass panels and rather joining the glass panles together with no upright?
