Thanks for the heads up on the acrylic / silicone issue. I had no idea that was even an issue. Im not entirely sure what ill be sealing it with yet but im going to chat to the local resin supplier this week. Probably Fibreglass and an epoxy resin.

As far as stocking goes: I want to try and get a fire eel in there first and get him tame enough to eat out of my hand and than Ill be adding about 30+ malawi peackocks like hansbaenschi, jacobfreibergi, baenschi etc and some of the less aggresive mbuna such as "Acei"

At least the eel will still be able to feed then, I hear they dont do so well fighting malawis for food.

For the lid im using ply wood as well. There is a pic of it lying upside down in one of the first pics I posted.

I have managed to find a place that will make up the acrylic front panel with the bend in for the equivelant of $120.

Now, what is the best way to seal the acrylic to and expoy resin surface?

Would epoxy glue work at all? Or would silicone be strong enough considering that the force will be pushing against the silicone, there will be no pulling force?

Got the sump built, and did the fiber glassing of the tank today.

Almost finished staining / sealing the stand.

Ive just ordered the acrylic with a bend in it.

I will be putting on a coat of black pond paint tonight and hopefully fitting the acrylic this weekend.

The acrylic did not arrive last week so I did a few other things this weekend.

The second and final coat of pond paint is on and the overflow is in.

I need one more coat of sealant on the outside wooden sections and it is finished. I hope to be test filling by around Wednesday next week :headbang2
The outside looks black in this photo but it is actually a dark brown mahogany like the stand
