just curious you said add fish? Any plans to cycle this beast? Also I looked through the thread but i didnt happen to see what stocking you were putting in it.

Thats a ton of water to heat. Especially if it was really cold from the faucet. My 125g took 2 days to heat up from 56 out of the faucet to 78. That's with 2 heaters.

Your tank should be able to be heated fully within 24hrs IMO otherwise your underpowered

Why? I mean a rule of thumb is fine, but raising the water temp a degree an hour doesn't seem necessary unless that's how much heat you'll be losing. It's not like you'll ever be in a situation where you need to rapidly raise water temperature, and if you really do, there's always stopgap methods like adding hot water. The way I see it, If your heaters can raise your temp that fast you could go to sleep at night, have your thermostat malfunction, and wake up to cooked fishies.

It's better to be over powered than Under here ... doesn't mean you'll use it.. just means that you have it incase

I apply the same philosophy when working on my car... but in that case it's way too tempting to just use it all the time :p

I see your point then, your ambient probably fluctuates a lot. I'd want to be over powered too in that case.
