Go to the sticky section and review the overflow threads. And toss those two in the trash. That design isn't going to cut it with the flow you are going to be working with (870gph). The size is way off too. Each one needs to be able to flow what the pump will output in the event one gets plugged (such as a dead fish). For the overflow design in the sticky, you are going to need 1 1/4 inch pipe.
not that you're helping me anymore for some reason, but I missed the 1 1/4". I will def do that. What else of the design am I missing? I thought there were problems w/ the overflow in the sticky and the picture in my above post was the one I was supposed to follow and besides the vent being in the wrong place, IDK what else I'm doing wrong.

OK. I see what you are doing with the overflows. I think they should work. I didn't pay much attention to the height of the outlet.

I think this is what you want it to look like if you are using the picture on the right.

ok, so if I use the design I made in 1 1/4" (2 of them) except for I won't need the cap and I will need to put the check valve in the elbow that goes over the back of the tank somewhere above the pipe, they should work? I wanna make sure before I buy all the supplies again. I will also take a picture before I glue it together.

thanks. I used to know a little about plumbing, but that has escaped me, lol. I also don't do well with visualizing things in my head.

I had one more question. In the modified version of what I did, the tee determines the water level. So, will the level be at the bottom or top or middle of the tee or does it mostly depend on the flow?

I tore out the plexi walls (minus the one that makes the pump compartment and cleaned all the silicone up pretty well. I never thought the Si would bond that well to the plexi, but the pieces were uber-hard to get out. I also received the filter socks today.

Anymore input on the overflows? I just want to make sure of everything as I want to get the supplies and finish it this weekend. I think I can reuse most of the plexi I already cut and add onto the drip plate. I will prob need to cut a new filter sock plate, though. I wonder if I should use ~3/8" plexi for that. I do have some. Everything else so far has been ~1/4"

I have some 1 5/16" piping that I was thinking about using for the overflows to save a little money. I've been hearing some cases where that size will work and some that say it won't for an overflow. Is it worth the risk to try or not? I don't want to end up spending even more money.

IDK what I was thinking. It's not 1 5/16" inch :screwy: It has to be 2"-something.

Can anyone else confirm the design I want to use? I would like to get the parts ASAP and get this thing done. Again, it will be 1 1/4"

that's pretty much the same as the one posted earlier in this thread. I'm trying to do the other design, though.
