I know you dont remember me, but the last time I logged onto this site you had just started digging a messy hole in the back yard.
Well today I was looking around the internet and I for some reason remembered your starting to build a pond and I went looking to see how you were doing?
I am stunned....
Actually I do, That was back when I was first started planning and I think we swapped some PM's about the BD and making the deck level with the door. Your story on the deck level was a large consideration of why it ended up level with the house. Thanks!
I say drop the hot tub temp down to 80 and keep South American's in it all year
As much as I love my fish...Not a chance! After a month of cursing and frustration I finally got it up and going...best investment to the house so far. We have been in it every night since I got it up and running for way to long (not sure why they say don't mix alcohol and spas, unfortunately for my mornings I find they go perfect together

)
I had to run about 120' of 4 strand wire to the tub. I found a good deal on 4awg on ebay 400'~$40 with shipping. Pulling that through 1" conduit was a nightmare. At least now I have legit power subpanel for the pond. Eventually after getting that done, the outdoor GFCI box connected, adding full insulation to the underside of the tub, two layers of 1/2" insulation paneling in the walls, and building a platform around it I flipped the breaker for....drumroll...nothing. After another 2 weeks of internet searching, circuit testing, and phone calls I ended up replacing the whole spa control board/heater and topside. Works like a champ now! First weekend it was up we had friends in town and ended up watching the sun rise twice. I have a pc out there now with netflix and don't think we have watched tv inside for the last 2 weeks. This power bill should be interesting.
The pond itself is about the same. It has been a very cold winter for us. We had a brief warmup about 2 weeks ago and I got a bit of algae. Yesterday the rain finally stopped and I reconnected the trickle filter, cleaned the settling tank and skimmer barrel, and reinstalled the uv lights. I am excited for spring and stocking it this year. I finally got the go ahead for a second above ground feature for the turtles too.
Riding out the weather going crazy inside
Hot tub minus heat..figuring out electrical control problems.
Framing a platform for around the spa.
Lowes winter clearance deals 9w uv spitter~$20
Floating color change LED lanterns, marked down from $25 to $1.50 per 2pk, I bought 8 lanterns
Goldie doing his winter thing
Got the spa running and figured out it will hold 8 if your super friendly...and we need more towels.
Put a canopy over the spa until I build a pergola this summer, makes it cozy at night.
