mrunlucky07,

IMHO...

You have earned and well deserve a very special place the history of "our" shared addiction!!!!!!!!!

To me, you will forever be known as the man who combined a W/D filter and a BAR....!!!!!!!

The pond build has so many very cool aspects to it... but, the "Filter Bar".... is sheer genuis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I want one.... I will have one....!!!!!

You made my day dude.....!!!!!!!!

:) Thanks, seemed logical to me, multipurpose and does not look too bad either. Kate and I have discussed rebuilding it larger in the shape of an L.

The LFS had got in about 500 baby koi on Thursday so I stopped by and picked out a few on friday, then came home found the pond water was about 2" low. Since then I have been feeling some of Yanbbrox's plumbing pain. I found the leak was from the back of the SC and thought it was the buried uniseal connecting it to the next barrel. It had troubled me initially since the poly tank wall was so thin and people said not to use uniseals on one. So I spent the evening digging down 3 feet in mud through a 4" wide area between tanks hanging upside down. After much cursing finally today I found the leak was not the uniseal, but the 3" bulkhead drain. The uniseal allowed flex as the ground moved this spring, but the rigid bulkhead did not. Hindsight.... Anyway I finally got it dried out tonight and applied a thick bead of sealant. Will put on another layer tomorrow and fill on Monday. Hopefully it does the trick. I am leaving week after next so if it I don't get it fixed I will have to shut off the bottom drain until I get back. I still have two barrels and the wet/dry running which should suffice.

On the plus side I have a detailed plan for the next pond which will be started at the end of the month. It is going to be a simple 4x8 and raised beach for the turtles plumbed back through a bd into the main pond filtration.

Digging down, these barrels were buried to near the top for support.

I replaced the 2" drain with a 3" line for faster dumping....Use a sump pump instead anyways to get the water farther away, so kinda pointless. I may turn it into an input from the next pond. The drain line shifted when the ground softened up cracking the seal. Would not have been a problem if I had used a flexible uniseal instead.

New baby Koi. picked up 7 butterfly and 2 standard. When I saw the pond leak I dumped them into a holding net in my 125 tank south american tank, when I returned they ahd all escaped. I caught 8, think the other may have became dinner. Hopefully he is just hiding though. I am going to keep them in my class tank until at least june to grow a little bigger.

Finally Thursday was a stressful day as chaos had her second litter. They are a handful, but are the chief fincianceers of my projects.

I know its been awile but my liner came in last week so I rembered to look back at this thread. I am putting in a 2' wide by 16' long pond for the turtles along the fence at the end of the deck. It is going to be a timber pond so it should be a pretty quick build. After thinking about it for the past few weeks I am going to keep it seperated from the main pond. I don't want to risk getting sickness from feeders itno the main pond. I am going for more of a swamp theme for the turtles to hide in with duckweed, plants and logs.

Just read through this thread, good project.

Hope it's all going well and working out for you. How's the litter? Certainly got your hands full, pond and pups.
