Building a 9'x25' pond

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I attached the liner all around using ring shank plastic head cap nails, They are intended for roofing felt and house sheathing. Places where you don't want rust or tearing. They were suggested to me from some ponders who used them to attach liner to wood. I probably used an excessive amount, but since I had to buy a whole case figured may as well.

The side along the fence will have a cap that looks identical to the bridge, but only 6" wide. It will be the same height as the deck and have an overhang with 2x10 fascia same as the other sides. The fence will eventually be replaced with a custom 8' fence, but probably not for another year.

Mustangman, I grew up in Enon Valley, rural area near where the turnpike crosses into Ohio. I am now in Virginia though. What part of Pa are you from?

It's come out very nice , going to look great when all done .

Oh never heard of that place. I'm from republic. That's about an hour south of Pittsburgh in Fayette County.

Made good progress today until it started down pouring around 3 and hasn't stopped. I was able to get the settlement chamber and 3 barrels all plumbed and leveled with the pond. I should have the filtration minus the tt up and running tomorrow.

I wanted to get the skimmer going last weekend and didn't want to run out for more 45s so went with 90 deg elbows. I knew it wasn't the right way to do it so picked up 45s and fixed it this morning before plumbing in the other chambers. If you are starting a project like this don't underestimate the plumbing. The cost really adds up. I think I am up to 6 lengths of 4", 6-3", 2-2" and about 2 dozen fittings.

I was able to get the gravity filters running today. Rained all night and off and on most of the day making another muddy mess to work in.

The water from the skimmer flows up through 50 black knight brushes in barrel 1 and down through 10,000ft of 1/2" banding in barrel 2 to a 3,000gph pump. The water from the bottom drain flows in near the bottom of the 300gal settling chamber then out the top and down through 24,000ft of 1/4" banding in barrel 3 to another 3k pump.

Connecting the top to the BD, it was a chilly swim today.

A look at the started trickle tower. The 3" return will run up through the inside of the TT. It will be lined with the EPDM and up against the fence when finished.
