put some fish with some serious teeth in the pond... no problem of someone falling in... they will always walk along the walls of the house fearing for their lives LOL
Interesting idea

Think my fearsome 4" turtle, some sunfish and a few feeder comets will strike fear into the hearts of people?
have you decided what your putting in it yet??
Probably wont have much in there until next year, try and figure it out by spring. Since some fish are a twenty year commitment I want to be sure before I introduce them. I am going to keep it pretty simple with a few brim for now.
estimate of cost/hours of labor at this point?
Just hit 3k this week. As far as hours, way too many. I started in march and worked almost every evening for 3 months. I had a lot of hangups with the digging. For the last two months I have been off and put in full days pretty much everyday. Except for some light help from Kate I am proud to say I have done it 100% myself.
Pups are doing great, changing everyday. Eyes are open and they are starting to play.
Some pics of the lower deck progress. I ended up making two full length hatches for filter access and was able to avoid any seams in the deck boards. They are a little heavy to lift, but not too bad.
Stairs are next on the list.
Its tough to get a good picture of, but I added 6 100w flood lights, which really light it up well at night. The water makes a nice reflection and its very easy to see the few fish I have put in. The water is starting to clear up pretty well too. I added about three dozen scrubbies and some other biomedia from my indoor tanks when I started the filters up to try and speed up the cycle. The rocks are holding some netting down over the BD for now because the feeders kept taking a ride down to the settling tank.
