Haha boss man should totally give that girl a raise . . . and more hours too!

Oh and that crazy red head girl that works with you just bought some TC today you should send her a text and she will split it with you!

i have always treated URI's with heat, i turn the temps up to 98 and moisten the aspen and it's usually cleared up in a week or two. never tried the tetracycline method..never heard of it either.

I think a vet trip is really necessary. The best of luck with that poor guy:);)

Sadly.. Spokane is horrible when it comes to reptile vets, and she said why she doesn't like taking them to the vet.. Its sad when the hobbyist knows more than the Vet and the vet just looks in a book, prescribes a generic, and hands you a needle and says 'good luck!'

Oh and there is a good one in Idaho but it would cost you a small fortune when tetracycline and heat will cost ya about $10

I would treat the drinking water with Tetracycline. If you can buy capsules from your local pet shop, you can open 'em up and pour the contents in to the water dish. If you can only find tablets, you need to disolve them first.
Treat every day for 7 days.
TC will not harm your Burm and will clear up a RI in no time.
If you chose not to do this, be advised an untreated RI can lead to death.

Humm, I see, didnt read all parts, but given this new data I tell you what. First of forget about tetracycline, it may work but is a kind of outdated antibiotic, that is only usefull if you know that particular patogenic agent is sensitive to it. For example it is futile against fungus and (I think:confused:) gran negative bacteria. Baytril has a much bigger range of efectiveness. Also dont forget that the agent that is causing this to that snake may be a completley diferent one that caused your retic to became sick and may be sensitive to baytril. URI is a simpton not a agent;) Even if its the same, it will make the snake fell better and give you some presious time. Have you some way to find a analisis laboratory on a animal hospital, campus, etc? If yes then find a way to take a sample so that you can find the correct antibiotic (they will do a sensivity test).Good luck:)

116 ~ You might get in touch with the herp department down at WSU.. one of our customers had a bad infection on the lips of her adult 2' beardie.. The only person she could find to work on it was WSU and they did it for a relatively low cost due to it being a university and using it more as a 'class project' than a vet would use it as a 'money maker'..

just a thought.. also try Balderamma if it gets worse? He loves snakes.

I can also pull some strings with Banfield and get you a prescription of baytril since I got the hookup :D

Yeah. I'm fersher trying the tetracyclin. I've never used it before and I like to try everything so I can learn first hand how it works. Thanks Reptech. If it doesn't seem to help, I'll take a trip to Pullman to visit Balderamma.

Batryl is going to be a last resort. Retics and Burmese are similar enough. I have a feeling they'd react the same to the batryl injections .

As far as pics go, I don't have any good ones. I'll see if I can find a digi cam and get a pic. Check out my "home page" for the crappy pic of Ikaris.
