Busted Aquarium.....What a mess

lol I have nightmares of mine popping and leaking through the floor in my apartment, actually I hate the guy downstairs so it would be kind of funny. But I checked under my tank, never noticed before it's a Miracle 65 gallon made in 1994, apparently they make excellent aquariums, SW

Yeah - i still have nightmares now. But no more perfecto manufacturing/marineland for me anymore.
I still have a hard time believing that it was because my stand wasn't level enough that causes it to crack at the bottom like that.
I went and look at my buddy's reef tank and his levelness is way off and the tank did not pop.

Yeah I guess with some manufacturers go beyond, like I was reading Miracles page "built with glass thicknesses that give you a safety factor greater than the industry standard" I can vouch for that, actually my tank was WAY uneven at my old apartment, but I didn't know any better lol

Actually what I'm really wondering is why do aquariums always seem to crack or pop in the middle of the night? is it the cooler temps or something?

Sometimes it is just luck of the draw. Of course, you never know. With his tank being off level, it could bust tomorrow.
some of my older miracles tanks lasted from 1991 to 2008 when I moved. never resealed, but never moved or drained down either.
both my 50g and 65g are miracles tanks.
but my 150g was Aqueon as Miracles did not make a 72x18x29 tank. they make one 27 tall but not 29 tall. I got a quote for a custom one from them but it was a fortune.
however, I am very happy with Aqueon's craftsmanship and glass thickness used on my tank from them. excellent work and very thick glass! the people from the LFS were complaining about how heavy it was when they delievered it LOL
a heavy tank is often a well built tank.

I have had 2 Marineland tanks crack on me I bought them from Big Als so they replaced them i spent the extra and replaced them with Miricles I will never buy another marineland tank.
