Buying a BMX bike- HELP!!!

I made the mistake of watching a BMX vid with her, and they had a bunch of crashes in it. Now she is looking for a cool helmet for me.

LOL! If you're just cruising around on it then don't worry, but if you're riding at the park or something then its a good idea. Just think of how flimsy your head is compared to a concrete ramp or steel coping...

Guys....its called riding fakie. Unless you have a freecoaster hub...the hub engages if the wheel goes backwards. Mind you freecoasters are pricey, and most will look down upon them unless you are doing something good out of fakie.

damn, when did good bikes get so expensive?!! i just looked around online at some bmx stuff and its crazy expensive compared to 15 years ago. wish i didnt chuck out a bunch of my old parts and a couple frames i had laying around for years now.

Ya bikes really got expensive. My friend has $1500 into his street bike in after market parts alone, not including the $600 he spent just to get the original bike.
