What's wrong with $3.99 comet or shubunkin goldfish then? They are same size of $15 koi carp and resemble koi carp too.

My biggest issue with feeding goldfish/rosies is that theyre usually bred, rasied and kept in disgusting conditions. Think about the stress those fish are going through, and imagine how weak their immune system is because of it. The smallest introduction of parasites or disease will sweep through the entire 20 gallon tank with 100 goldfish. Now, with that said, I believe that ANY fish bred or kept in those conditions are likely to be terrible feeders. Even home bred cichlids.

They have thaimine sp. and counter act growth in a fish, they are NOT good choices. I thought goldfish were the most obvious no no of them all....

Baller breeds his own feeders, there is no comparison to feeding store bought.

It is okay to give them goldfish and other crappy feeders as a treat. Just don't understand why $15 koi and not a $3.99 goldfish.

Maybe you read or I posted the wrong price but the kois that I feed are $5... Where did you get 15? I only pay $5 for the koi becuase its about 5-6". And everyone knows whether they are smart or stupid its for action imo.

Plus, eddie why are you even posting here kid? I thought your not going to even bother? LOL what a fool.

ooo I see my post earlier was ambiguous! SORRY! What I meant about the $15 was for 15 dithers. 10 neon black tetras and 5 tiger barbs. Kois I feed are only $5 for 5-6". Hope this clears things up.

Yeah I was thinking of shubunkin goldfish but I thought that kois had more quality especially that they are housed at petco in a 100g tends to that goldfish in a 10g. These kois are really active and petco does a waterchange EVERYDAY to keep all water test to 0. And they thrive to this standard so ehh, give or take, my shoal likes it and I like watching it get eaten.

Your the one that is the fool here. Everyone has a right to post.

Yeah atfowns no need for name calling.

Thiaminase is a enzyme that destroys Vitamin b1. Its found in all kinds of fish and animals. Not just goldfish. The thiaminase from an occasional goldfish feeding is negligible if they normally eat a varied and healthy diet. Thiaminase enzymes can effect fish in more ways than just stunted growth. Stuff like infertility, paralysis, and poor immune systems can happen.

I'll leave this here. http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ca/volume_6/volume_6_1/thiaminase.htm

Like i said before, as long as you understand the risks, dont cry about anything bad that happens.

Disclaimer, I dont feed store bought feeders, especially goldfish or rosies.

I didnt read 15 dollars here. It was another thread but you were too busy attempting to jump down my throat instead of answering the questions. F1 said you spent 15 or it might've been 10. You asked how I knew how much you spent and I pointed out you've neither denied or confirmed his statement. So of course I'm still under the impression you spent more then 5.
