How old are you?... I had a friend in 7th grade who got way in over his head with reptiles, with caimans, anacondas, you name it. You can guess the rest. The reason I'm often stingy about topics like this is I care for animals more than anything you can imagine, and I would hate to see this happen to anyone else. Although I see it happening to a certain cichlid owner on this forum... hmm...

allright another question

say i aquired a baby caimen, maybe a yacre, smooth front or speckled at about 8-14" how long could i keep it in a 750 tank (10x4x2) with a heat lamp and almost half the tank with a land mass of some sort to get dry and heat up, and all the stuff he needs?

just wondering cause there tight,i have a huge pond in the backyard, and i heard someone near me can get them for a good price?

this is hypathetical of course, well most of it
:D

but yeah

a caiman can crack open a 750 tank..even if it's thick..

the pond is the way to go..
i've seen people keep them in big aboveground ponds, that have land areas.

i am 17, but i know i dont have experiance with things like this know, but i just had questions just like on my other thread about vipers. Just asking questions on them, as i saw a few adds about juvies being for sale at pretty cheap prices i think. However i have done some reaserch on the smaller species that only reach about 4-6'. I just had an i dea of doing a mini amazon them tank, with a little caimen baby and some fish with a tree top cover sorta thing above the tank with some tree python or vipers. But I know i would never do this anytime soon unless i had the room, money, and alot of experiance around these animals.

but i understand your consern for and about the proper hands and care these animalls deserve, as i am like that also.

You like snakes? So do caimans ;)

ahaha, well i was talking about like a sorta mini cohab like something at a zoo. like have you ever seen an exhibit where theres like a pond withh either alligators, crocs or caimen, then over head theres branches and trees hanging over with som python or whatever hanging above?

well if you have thats what im talking about
:)

Yes I have seen them. There is one that looks AMAZING at the national Aquarium in Baltimore, but its an accident (or not accident) waiting to happen, in my opinion. Unless they have a very very clever barrier... Which is possible.

Btw, crocs can JUMP!
