Yeah I believe they have some HRP in them too simply because people have been breeding convicts to long for this pair I have to just all of a sudden throw this color. I really like the looks though. So Krusty, do your platinums throw platinums or regular HRP colors? Like how dominant is this platinum gene?

Crush didn't you say before that white bars on a white body is common in hrps? Maybe the calico gene is a mutation of pink hrp x black convict or one of the other 3 convict like species and it will only become dominant if that specific cross made. I've breed black and pink convicts every way black x black , pink x pink , and black x pink not one produced marbled fry. Even breeding their offspring didn't.

Oh no I don't have any knowlwdge of HRP's. When I said anything about the HRP's, it was from the feedback I got from my thread. All I have ever had was just regular and pink convicts, even this marble convict gene is new to me.
Oh ok I don't have much breeding or just experience with hrps either. Maybe when I get some more tanks I will get some of Jeff Rapps rip danli hrps.

I gave all my plats away but before I did I had spawns of plat x plat and got 100% platinums, of course they were not mixed with convicts according to the source so I did expect them to produce only plats.
In fact I have only one calico convict left and that is by accident. When I pulled out the fish that I shipped to Doomie I pulled the parents off of a batch of eggs in the process of hatching. I expected all the EBJDs to scarf up the babies and they mostly did but this one little girl managed to hide and eat and survive and now she is living with my Pink and Blue Flowerhorns and just starting to show the same full body golden/orange/pink metallic color of the mother that Doom has right now. Her spots are also nice and well spaced and they don't look like truncated stripes. I, if I can ever catch her, will bring her into my LFS since she survived incredible odds and at well under an inch long now is surviving with a breeding pair of Flowerhorns and never even seems to get in harm's way. She is a survivor.

Well art I got bad news my pair died and I lost a good amount of fry. I have like 40-50 fry left. My tank got poisoned with dry wall dust.

Thanks and I will definitely take some if you can ship. I already talked to japbart and he's sending some of his too. I learned my lesson next week when my landlord comes to knock down the other wall make sure the tank and filter are completely covered and they are tied down.
