ahhh okay, found it. Usually, whether a ray is this or not can be seen by the price, but not in this case. Luckily you asked before you bought or you would've been ripped off with a VERY expensive retic.

Yeah no kidding. That was the main reason for posting, I was really skeptical because it did not look like any hystrixs i've seen online. You can get retics for $100 less. Now I need to find a new ray :(

Red "Caqueta" Reticulatus, hands down.

I agree.
Im sure there have been worst pictures taken of Rays .......just cant think of any..lol !!!!
If it is whats known as the "red" Retic then these cost a lot more than the regular Retic.......be warned though they are notoriously difficult to raise in captivity.
Much better pictures are required, one thing for sure is its without doubt...."not a Hystrix"

Like I had mentioned its very difficult to take a picture there. Its very dim lights with only the fish tank lights on. They've had him for a few months now and I've seen him eat a ton of times. I'm just not interested in another retic.

Is this the "Hystrix" at Aquarium Adventure? If so it is really a rather washed out colored red retic, saw it yesterday.

Yes, that is the ray we are talking about. I think his color is like that because of the tank setup.
