Ryan has a killer collection, love the avatar shot too bud. (where are the "other" Uaru pics..?? ;))

Which "other" Uaru would that be? The fernandezyepezi? I don't have those anymore but I could post pictures of them as juvies.

I love the blue on your rotkeils. When rotkeils first became popular I didn't like the look of them... now after owning some they've grown on me, and yours are probably one of the nicest pair I've seen.

I love my severum, he's a great fish.

Great thread. I didn't realize how colorful some of the Sev's got.

I'm assuming the yellow/gold Sev's pictured are called Gold Sev's?? I'm not too familiar with Severums other than seeing them in the store as juvies. I've just got a Choco. cichlid juvie in a 55g and I'm upgrading looking for someone to put in with him. I might just have to go with some type of Severum. I don't know why I had the impression of them being dull in color? Similar personality to a chocolate as well, or less puppy-like/personal?

All severums have different personalities, just like chocolates do. My chocolate cichlid is moody and shy. She's all bark and no bite. She sometimes flares up at tank mates, but the second they push back, she backs down into her little pit under some driftwood.

I have about 12 severums in the tank and they range from friendly and peaceful to aggressive and pushy. It's really all in the individual fish.

Golds are usually a more buttery yellow color while "super reds" are the more fiery orange-red color. Golds start out looking pretty pale as juvies but most turn more yellow/golden as they grow. Males will develop red lines on the face and body. Nothing beats a good quality gold, IMO. I've always had a soft spot for them.

What size tank are you upgrading to? Chocolates and sevs get pretty big. I wouldn't try anything less than a 90 or a 125, depending on how many other fish you put with them.

Thanks for the great info RyanSmith83. I'm only in the considering stage, but appreciate the info. I'm looking to get a 75-125gallon, I've just been watching craigslist to find the right deal. That will likely determine where the tank goes. I'd at least get a 75 for the chocolate alone by himself. If I get a 90, then I'll consider going with a tank mate. Again, thank you for answering my questions Ryan. And AWESOME pics everyone. Here is one of my Chocolate-
