updates???? its been awhile so any good news?

It's up and running. I currently have my breeding pair in it right now.

I am keeping the right side empty so that I can separate it and use it as a grow
out for the fry later on down the road. Once they get big enough.
You can see the nest in the left corner of the tank. I buried that pot good. It took them a good amount of time to dig it out.

Male SRT and female Carpintis. Should be an interesting mix if
they manage to produce. Fingers crossed.

I used 200lbs of Chilean Black for the substrate. I like it alot. It's polished sand. They get it off of a beach in South America. It's pricey! I managed to get it all for free though. :D:naughty:
My dad is the accountant for a pool manufacturing company.
They have a warehouse full of every type of sand imaginable.
I just went in there with a bunch of buckets and found the best
looking one. It was awesome.

male srt tend to be infertile. Use female srt and male green instead.

I know. I am doing this to find out if he is fertile. I know there is
a very small chance he is, but there's only one way to find out.
If he is indeed fertile, the Carpintis will be taken out and a fertile
female SRT will be put in her place.

But you're right, yes. Also if I was trying for keepers I would
do it your way. Because The color comes from the female and
the patterns from the male....for the most part. And your suggestion
would produce much nicer offspring.

got to love freebies
nice setup it looks good
so are you looking to produce or are you just hoping, cuz i was thinking more fish would look really cool in there and well i dont know shi+ about breeding so i guess my opinion doesnt really matter. but i wish i had that in my house

Thanks Ace. I'm mainly just going to use this tank for growouts and breeding.
It is not exactly a show quality display. So I don't want to stuff it full of expensive fishes.

I have my 240 gallon for that.
