can a 100-125g tank be upstairs in master bedroom?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, a 125g wold weight about 1,000 pounds water only.
Factor in stand, tank, filter, substrate, ect, you end up with about 1,500.

If about 8 people of average weight (150-200 pounds) stood in a tight circle, would they go through the floor?

I have been worried about this too with my 55g, but every time I start freaking out, I just think of it like that. If me and 3 of my friends stood together, would we go through the floor? Umm, no.:grinno:
you might not initially go through the floor, but i dont think you all would be planning on standing in the same spot for a couple of years... one of the biggest problems that people forget about is the time factor.

take a look at this page, it'll give you a better idea of the do's and don'ts of aquariums and weight tolerances.

I always had a water bed, never had a problem, plus i humped some huge chics in it, house is still standing, just leans a little.

water is not even 9 pounds a gallon, so lets say its 1,000 pounds spread out over 12 square foot, thats only 100 pounds a square foot.

so yea, id say go for it. id worry more about glass breaking or tank overflowing than the wieight.

one gallon of water is 8 pounds and thats not including decor garvel filter etc. do what you want but dont come cryin to us when it breaks the floor

Very good info. personally I think you should just go smaller. I think if you wanted to go above 100 gallons. You would need some extra support. so just go smaller and upgrade later when you move into a actual house or move to a lower level. It is not like you absolutely have to have a 125 gallon aquarium.
