RE: google etc, well, Wikipedia is a website that ANYBODY can edit, so I would say (and I don’t need proof) that Wikipedia has a chance of being FALSE. e.g. in wiki, it states that the statue of liberty was built to be a gift to the American people, when in fact the statue of liberty was built by the French to mock the French telling them to look at America and be more like them. That’s the real truth.

In Uni/college, professors/lecturers etc won't even accept (wiki) as a valid source in papers/assignments for that exact reason.

The Aqu. central link is extremely lacking, i.e it says “there are 2 main species of Siamese tiger fish – micro and quadrafaciatus (Siver tiger). It doesn’t even mention widebar!!!! the true Siamese tigerfish. what about NTT? Both from Asian water.

now we're talking. i added a teaspoon of salt to my 5x2x2. i'm pretty sure we'll break even if there's such a poll.

no doubt wiki and google is not a perfectly reliable source of information, but is science? didn't the scientific community mocked einstein when he said that gravity has an effect on light causing it to bend.

anyway we're digressing, it's never my intention to mislead fellow aquarist.

cheers

Science is definately a reliable source of info, backed up by evidence, research, analysis and test results. that ends this off-shoot.

Let the O. thread topic continue, (if it aint run out of steam by now...)

I agree... adding more dats seem to make them bolder and more stable.

Also i found out that Dats really hate it when i suddenly turn on the lights in a dark room. So i try to let light in gradually from other locations in the house before turning on the lights near the tank, and finally the tank lights.

I find that my Dats are most stable when I have all ambient lights turned off and only the tank light on.

The pictures I posted up in the media section were with those specifications. I did see a difference with stability of color when I had all 5 dats in the tank, instead of just the 1. Maybe they become stable when they're more relaxed? I mean with all the lights off and just the tank, they can't see me. With more of their own kind around they only have to out run the guy behind them if chased by a predator :).

This what worked for ME....
Less hiding places: To actually get use to the people in heavy traffic rooms..IE living room.
Power heads: Power heads placed on both sides of the tank (on the bottom) so they have no place but up, to swim around.
The more the merrier: I find it better if their in a much crowed tank their colors come out more, and they have no chose but to compete for food.

There is more that I use to do...but I forgot.

P.S. This is the methods I use.

IT are prob the most unstable of all tigers.

There is no consistant reason why Indo becomes stable or unstable in my exoperience. why? some only go stable when being chased and attacked, then when left alone, they go unstable again. and somme only go stable when they are not being atatcked.

They dont become stable when they are relaxed or not stressed.

Greater numbers often help, NO hiding spaces also, but its mainly time factor ime.

Haychinook: looks fantastic.

Tried the following

- shrimps, food sticks, massivore, feeders + zoe suppliment,
- no hiding spot, with Malayian / Mopani driftwood (hiding spot), with or without background
- T5 HO dual light with moonlight, T5 normal light, T8 light,
- shoal with other tigers and other fish, solo
- small tank, big tank

and if you have eternal bad luck like me, all of the above doesn't work at all

(Before and After)
