thanks guys that stick moved pretty fast, i was thinking rat snake but you know more about them than i next time i see him i will do the same as i do with rattlers shoot him lol
Dont go randomly shooting snakes!!! They are a vital part of your local ecosystem. They keep the rodent population in check. A rat is more dangerous to you and your family than a rat snake. If you have problems with a venemous snake around your house, call your local animal control and they will move it. If you have nonvenomous snakes around your house, leave them the hell alone!

P.S. If you want to lessen the snake AND rodent population on your property, mow your freakin grass, get rid of the broken down car, and move all the bricks and logs away from the house. The area shown in that picture is a perfect breeding ground for snakes and rats.

that is not my house it is my barn, the car is gone it was only there until i got the engine out of it. here in west texas snakes are not part of eco system, we kill them, as well as rats, which we dont have much of a problem with, rattle snakes are the most prevalent. as far as the animal control they are ok with stray dogs or cats.

Yeah that is REALLY ignorant. Do you have any idea how many of your local species feed on the snakes you are killing? Any owl or hawk would have loved to see that rat snake before you did.

lets keep it civil guys or ill have to shut this down like i did the other two threads, in some areas people just need a little more education on how to treat wildlife than others. But all in all there is a polite way of telling people how ignorant they may be. Or maybe he is a partial animal lover? :)

wrong again, our eco system consists of what everyone wants oil, wildlife can hardly survive in our weather, which for the most part is hot and dry, our average rainfall is about 9 inches a year if we are lucky, and yes people here kill snakes, about 20 percent or more of the oil in this country comes from here. oxy has said they will drill 400 new wells this year, now that is here montana, wyoming. we are not pumping to much now because all of the tank batteries are full, as well as the refineries. as far as ignorant how can you say that if you do not know this region or myself.

I think your are confusing ecosystem with economy. The ecosystem exists whether or not you drill oil in that area. There are animals that are designed to live and thrive in that harsh environment. I'm not going to debate with you any more on this because it seems that MFK confuses educational debate with flaming for some reason and I don't want to cause any trouble. Just please think twice before destorying wildlife for no reason.

Sorry to burst your bubble but an ecosystem's definition in part has to deal with the natural ecosystem and how it all correalates in the cycle of life for that particular area, (naturally occuring that is) oil refineries have nothing natural about them except for the greed that people who are digging the oil promote.

Educational debate can go on without insulting, :) and thats what MFK promotes.

if it had rattles.. it's a rattlesnake..

otherwise it's a bull snake.. bull snakes can flare their heads and make em look wide and they will wiggle their tail in the grass to try to make it sound like rattle and they will pretend to strike at you but won't actually bite. my baby bullies have very distinctive patters on their backs but could easily be mistaken for a rattle snake. Lord knows i did the first time i saw a bull snake.. lol.
