By the way thank you for the compliments, my wife and I take turns decorating we usually re arange the rockwork every month.

and due to an abundance of granite that is what we use and it looks great under water

Due to myself not listening to others I bought a couple kenyi that wreaked havoc and killed half the inhabitants and then another third of the introduced fish.

I gave one to a friend who put him in with a jack dempsy and the kenyi molested the jack who was three times his size so bad he just did away with it.

I now have the other kenyi in his own 5.5 gallon and he tries to bite whateveer comes near his tank even the dogs tail.

Is that normal for a kenyi BYW ??

Yours is just like mine..see picture.. but this one that i have is pretty sweet.. gee i can't believe this sweet little Mbuna could do all that..

How big is yoru tank ?

how many females do you have with him ?

My tank is a little small for kenyi supposedly they need a 40 gal with at least 3 females.

mine even tore a pumpkinseed half to pieces until my wife rescude him.

Yes the tank he is in is a 55 gal.. I would quess that there are 10 fish..and the majority are males.. i have not ID'd any as female yet...and other then chasing each other a bit they all do great.. i do have that tank as an assortment of mbuna's.. no breeding or pairing off in it.. They have all been together for over a year with no changes .. My breeding tanks are separate from these..and my fish are quite large..about 4 inches..and all the rest in that tank are almost 5 inches. I know the name of this Mbuna but want to spell it correctly so as soon as i can find the right spelling i will let you know.. I still cannot believe yours was capable of all the distruction, so far i have never had any be killers.. some i thought were stressing others but never that relentless stuff you describe..and no one died over anything.. so maybe it is the large tank that makes the difference.. but still never thought that this fish would or could do that.

Here is my male african tank size 55 gal. All the fish hide when i show up with the camera. not the greatest of photos but you get the idea..

I think it has to do with the individual fish. This picture of the juvinile kenyi (blue) was "mr. tough guy". Now he is an adult (the yellow color) he has calmed down. The real pr:eek: k of the tank is this 3.5" red top kimpuna. This dude chases everyone.:nilly: 24/7
