Not an easy answer, if it was a JD you were talking about I'd say go for it. An EBJD is a little diferent being so easly stressed. If you have plenty of hiding places where it can feel secure and it's almost 3" for $25 I'll say go for it. If you could quarintene for two weeks and treat for IP before it goes in the main tank it would be better. Good luck.

This is very good advise OP. I would add that once you get your EBJD in your main tank pay close attention to how it interacts with the other tank mates to see where you could prevent possible stress. As Aquanero stated they are very easily stressed so if I were you I would just watch closely.

I say go for it. and good luck!

I'd say go for it, if they get too aggressive with the EBJD, you could always divide it off for a bit. They do grow slow, so just keep an eye on him/her. Also, I'd suggest the quarantine idea. I have an EBJD, he's about 6"s. I've had him for about 2 months now and he was 4.5-5"s when I got him, but shortly after introducing him to the tank, he got ich. I used Coppersafe and turned my temp up to 83 and within a day or 2 it was pretty well gone off him. I'm sure the move stresses them a bit, which is how it happened I guess. Good luck with it, hope it works out because they are beautiful fish.

make sure the EBJD is the bigger then the other fish.

Just got back from the LFS.
They sold the big guy that was 3"+, but I did get an active and colorful 2" EBJD.
He is currently residing in my spare 29 gallon that will act as a quarantine tank for the time being.

By far the most expensive fish I have ever bought... at a staggering $23 (discount) :grinno:

Now back to the 380 Acrylic project :headbang2

goodluck with the EBJD wish i could find one around me here in youngstown, ohio. NO ONE has them :(

There is a store in Columbus (awesome store btw) that I know has them...
Still a drive for you.

Buy Online and have them shipped, but I have never done that and I would worry because of how fragile these guys are.

Enjoy your EBJD, they're beautiful fish, mine intrigues me with his more than normal aggression. He beat up my BGJD and is always pestering his mate. But the second he gets double teamed, he turns chicken. Weird fish, but he's beautiful.

I think you are ok as long as it's not to small compared to the other ones. They are pretty big panzies compared to reg JDs

I am fairly sure my new EBJD has Ick.
Can't see white spots, but he is rubbing on everything in the tank.

I am very glad i quarantined him :)
