Can I or Should I add an EBJD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah sounds like ich if he is itching his sides on everything, crank the temp up to 85-86 and add a tsp/gallon salt for 2 days (to give final of 2tsp/gallon salt) and leave for 2 weeks (if you have to do waterchange then just be sure to replace any salt you take out) also make sure to watch out for parasites during this time, GOOD LUCK

oh and i would suggest rehoming your red belly pacu to someone with a pond, they get way to big for your tank and grow quickly

Already done :grinno: But thank you for the advice :headbang2

haha NICE, its always good to see people on here who know how to take quick action lol :) im sure he will be fine then

Well I cant take all the credit.
The advice on the thread had me very cautious about the new addition bringing in parasites and being susceptible to Ick.

"I am becoming more and more convinced that I am not only more capable, but more responsible, to properly care for fish than most LFS's"

Oh boy, how big is your Red Belly Pacu? I guess no one here notice about your Red belly Pacu? Keep in mind that Red Belly Pacu are omnivores. I had my EBJD for half a year and it only grew about an inch on me. They are extreme slow growers. Did you catch on youtube vids of Red Belly Pacu eating goldfish? Becare ful with that EBJD. It can be your most expensive meal for your fish.

^yeah get rid of the Red Belly Pacu.

NEVER!!!! LOL.

Yeah that is of concern, but once I get my 380 going the Pacu will be transferred and the EBJD will probably stay in the 125. My Pacu is only about 7-8" (for now... lol) and I have had him since he was <1". Also, my Barbs are the ones that eat the feeders for the Poly Senegalus, of course that could change when the Pacu gets larger. Still need to determine what exactly the plan is for the 125 :grinno:

Great advice and help, thank you!

UPDATE:

The EBJD went into the 125 and everything looked great. He was somewhat active, no one bothered him and he ate that night.

But.... when I got home from work the next day he was nowhere to be seen. I tore the tank apart trying to find him, but I could not.
I think the poly senagalus got to him...

oh well, lesson learned :nilly:

^yeah do research first and take are advise. :(
