Can I put gouramis with my polypterus ?

He didn't even know what gourami it was! Those small ones? The kind that won't be eaten? Come on man! Any gourami other than a giant will be eaten! and giants are most certainly NOT small! I just can't believe the gourami did that though. Never had a gourami kill another living creature or nip at all.

I have to disagree with the notion that any gourami except "giants" would be eaten. It depends on the species of bichir, but I'm assuming the OP has a senegal. I can't imagine an adult blue/opaline/gold, snakeskin, kissing, paradise, croaking, pearl, or moonlight gourami getting eatten by a senegal... I guess it could be possible for a 13"+ senegal, but considering how uncommon it is for them to reach that size, I'm very doubtful of that possibility.

I keep gourami in my tank with my Del, no problems as of yet. No one eating the other, yet. My Del even has a stalker gourami and the fish is never far from the Del lol

Should be okay, depending on the species. I think that smaller gouramis wouldnt be right, and the same too, for a larger one, like an osphronemus. I think ur polypterus is still a juvenile ( the external gills) and they r quite sensitive at that age. Best bet would be the medium sized trichogasterinae...;)

Not quite true. I would wish more responsibility for the animals kept here. He said the gouramis shredded the bichirs external gills...yes, thats pretty bad and common sense tells me that the bichir is hurt from OPEN WOUNDS. Thats why i thought this topic is a joke.

You ARE such a JOKE!... learn man and be constructive...
