Can oscars and black ghost co-exist ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hi
One of my mates Have a 100 Us Gallon tank and 1x Tiger Oscar, 2x PLeco's, 1x Malawi cichlid, 1 x Stonefish.

Nothing in his tank messes with his Oscar and its only 20 cm. So I personally think the Oscars might get too aggressive for the BGK, please correct me if I am wrong :)

oscars are pretty mild as far as cichlids go. they would probably be okay together. i may get an oscar for my tank w/ a BGK.

I have to say, when I 1st started reading this thead, I thought it was a Troll. I was pretty shocked myself, when I saw the list of fish in that small tank. But I do a lot of correspondence with folks from countries like this & a lot of Asian countries & many shops there have total disregard for fish they keep or sell. Most puffers native to Asia are kept in vats in their open market, out baking in the sun. There are hundreds in these vats & most of them die or are bitten badly by the other puffers in there.

A kid will write in to my forum about how he just rescued this poor puffer & is keeping in a bowl in his house & folks start flaming him, until we realized where he is from & what kind of environment these fish came from & the kid just wanted to do his best to rescue this poor puffer. So we educated him (while he educated us) & he learned & now his puffer is happy & healthy. So we have to keep in mind that things are very different in other countries. Yes, as long as folks have the internet, they could have done the research beforehand but we have them here now, so let's not chase them away, to go off & kill countless more fish.

To the Origional Poster, if your fish weren't the kind of species that got any bigger, they would have had a beautifully-decorated tank to live out their life in. Now, stick around & learn, learn, learn. Lots of great information here!

everyone starts somwhere...if you guys saw my first fish tank wow....
