I once fell down said flight of stairs with a full bucket of water...the falls that you hit your *** on every stair on the way down...I only spilt 1/4 of the bucket! I couldn't believe it!
Yep... and I can do it w/ just buckets... takes heck of alot longer.. use towel to dry off bottom of bucket since i fill it in the shower, but i did run outta towels on day 'n had to let it drip dry before moving from shower (humidity condensation in shower, not overflow). =/ syphon fittings don't work on my faucets..
Did dump a 5 gallon full on my carpet once on 2nd story... Dad was not impressed..
I have the biggest none-python gravel vac, needless to say it DUMPS water into the bucket. Everytime I take my eyes of the how in the bucket it flies out to the floor. I almost did the same thing as Alyssa, except i fell up the basement steps dumping nice pee/poo/fish sex water all over me.......................... LOVE this hobby
Don't pythons waste a lot of water? Like, isn't there always water going down the drain? This is why we've never bought one. It seems like a waste. Correct me if I'm wrong, but water changes on really big tanks would waste a lot of water.
This is how I do it in my 220. ITs drilled I have ball valves and T's on the dual 2" drains, I close all the valves put a 90 on the inside of the tank and extend it to the level i want the water drained. Open both valves and like magic the water is almost instantly sucked outside. I was shocked to see how fast I can drian half the tank with 2 full siphon 2" drains. Then comes the water hose and prime. No fuss no mess.
I just did my monthly 50% WC.. pull all deco out.. scrub bottom of tank (bare-bottom) rip apart filters and make sure impellers where spiffy clean.. leaving my bio-mats ect alone of course =D..
Both my needle nose fish, and Oscar jumped outta the tank O.O... never happened before!
I dumped about 2gallons of fish poop water on the floor when the siphon slipped out of the bucket..
So to reitterate.. /knocks on wood. I hate water changes the neccisary evil.
